The Yucca Mountain Youth Zone from the Department of Energy focuses on the storage of Nuclear Waste and the problems associated with this process. Is mainly informative, with a brief section of games and activities.

Global Warming kids site from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency explains the greenhouse effect and its consequences.  The kids section has games, animations, and an online greenhouse gas calculator.  The teacher section includes an activity kit for grades 6-8

How much "greenhouse gas" does your household produce in a year? Does your family beat the national average of 60,000 pounds for a household of two? Use the online calculator from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

Climate Change and Global Warming: a guide for kids by Tiki the Penguin
Not everyone agrees that climate change is actually happening. But Tiki the Penguin from oneworld.net points out that the polar ice caps are melting. The extra water means good news for fish but bad news for people. In cartoon drawings and easy to read prose, Tiki challenges humans to do something about it.

Koshland Science Museum: Global Warming Facts and our Future
The Marian Koshland Science Museum from the National Academies put together this site loaded with Flash and audio.  For older children, this site addresses climate change and the future global climate.

Global Warming Student Research Page
This site is put together by a subgroup of the National Consumer Coalition for high school and college-age students preparing persuasive papers and speeches.  Directly links to the political and scientific primary sources.

Climate Timeline Tool
The National Climactic Data Center created this site for older children which illustrates climate change at intervals from one day to periods measured in the millions of years.

Tiki the Pengiun’s pollution guide for kids Intended for science learning for younger children, this guide from Oneworld UK covers the aspects of many different kinds of pollution contributing to environmental decay.

Minnesota pollution control agency’s guide for kids - Many and varied activities, including coloring and puzzle activities, a special reference area for students doing environmental homework, and information on Minnesota's frog population.

Foundation for Clean Air Progress -  Includes streaming video, an interactive smog simulator, and the basics of clean air.  For junior and senior high students.

The Texas Department of Transportation's "Drive Clean Across Texas" has a FREE comprehensive educational program addressing air pollution. The curriculum is divided into activities for grades K-12 and is matched to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) requirements.

Transportation Energy: A Student's Guide to Alternative Fuel Vehicles
This guide is produced by the California Energy Commission and provides links to information about alternative fuels and alternative fuel vehicles.

National Energy Foundation
The National Energy Foundation FUELING THE FUTURE Web site is designed to provide information to teachers and students about alternative fuel vehicles. It also explains alternative transportation fuel choices and shares fun and educational activities. It includes posters, activities, curricula, and links to many sites.

Fuel Cells 2000
Fuel Cells 2000 offers teachers and students K-12 information and resources such as fuel cell information brochures and free information packets about fuel cells.

GMability Education K-4
The GMability Education web site has supplemental articles and Web-based activities that help students understand relevant topics. Games and interactive features engage students, and lesson plans based on national education standards help teachers integrate activities into the classroom.

The Advanced Transportation Technology Center
The Advanced Transportation Technology Center at Miramar College at San Diego Miramar College has college programs in advanced fuel technologies that have been adapted to younger students. It created a booklet titled Introduction to Alternative Fuels and Alternative Fueled Vehicles

National Corn Growers Association
The National Corn Growers Association provides teachers of all grade levels with a Web-based educational kit, Corn in the Classroom, that discusses how corn is used as an energy source to replace fossil fuels.

Alliance To Save Energy

Northeast Sustainable Energy Association
The Northeast Sustainable Energy Association offers K-12 educational programs that help students and teachers explore energy solutions. Topics include renewable energy, clean transportation, and environmentally wise everyday choices. Free and nominal fee publications are available.

The Charles Edison Fund
This organization provides experimental booklets to science teachers. They contain 82 experiments, including How to Make a Fuel Cell (grades 4-8).

Environmental Protection Agency: EcoKids
This site includes information on various environmental issues, games, curricula, and more.  Loaded with flash animation for young kids.

National Energy Education Development (NEED)
NEED works with state and local partners to provide energy education workshops to teachers and students throughout the school year.  A teacher's PDF guide for "Change a Light, Change the World is included" at this site.

Energy Information Administration
The Energy Information Administration's kids' Web site features Energy Ant, who teaches about all forms of renewable and nonrenewable energy. EIA also publishes Energy Education Resources, an annual directory of low-cost or no-cost energy information resources.

The Fun-Fueled Activity Book provides accurate, reliable information on alternative fuels in a fun and interesting way. You'll find puzzles, mazes, crosswords, and other activities. Information on fuels, vehicles, pollution, and technologies is also included.

Daniel and His Electric Car
This children's book from the U.S. Department of Energy tells the story of Daniel and his father, who are shopping for a new car.

Fort Worth Clean Cities Coalition Kids' Page

Energy Eagle Coloring Book

Smog City
This site from the Sacramento Metropolitan Air Quality Management District teaches about ozone and air pollution.  Loads a java-based simulation of what is is like to live in the mismanaged "Smog City".

Water Works: A question of balance
The National Hydropower Association’s Water Works curriculum allows students to inquire into the nature of water and the hydrologic cycle.
