2008 SEET Workshop

The 2008 workshop was held July 7 - 18 at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory in Golden, Colorado. The workshop focused on energy efficiency technologies and renewable energy content presented by educators, practitioners, and researchers from across the country. The workshop provided small-group presentations and discussion with NREL research scientists; hands-on, take-home equipment and training; and site visits and field work. The workshop participants produced instructional materials, identified teaching and learning strategies and materials, and established a peer network to share with high school and two-year college educators in an online energy resources clearinghouse.

SEET 2008 Participants

The SEET Workshop is funded by a grant from the National Science Foundation (DUE#0602633) and is developed through a partnership among ATEEC, NREL, the University of Northern Iowa (UNI), Eastern Iowa Community College District, and the Partnership for Environmental Technology Education (PETE). High school and two-year college science, math, and technology instructors from across the U.S. applied, with twenty-five (25) instructors selected to attend. The participant expenses covered: travel, lodging, meals, study materials, and optional tuition (for graduate credit through the Colorado School of Mines). Eligibility for stipends for participant support requires participation in pre-workshop online activities; all scheduled workshop sessions; team work on a workshop project (includes some evening and weekend work); post-workshop submission of project materials, if needed; post-workshop dissemination activities; and follow-up online meetings.
