A Digest of Education and Career Opportunities in Environmental Science and Technology
CONTENTS
Last November ATEEC conducted an on-line Open House for 24 instructors who have agreed for their schools to be Quality Assurance test sites for the Center.
These two-year college and high school instructors, ATEEC's Quality Assurance (QA) Team, will evaluate and/or pilot test instructional materials and services over the next three years.
For example, the team members will evaluate a series of modules focused on emerging environmental technologies and environmental health impacts.
These modules are being developed through a partnership between ATEEC and MIT to integrate environmental technology research into the classroom.
As these modules are completed, the team members will pilot test and evaluate them in their classrooms.
The QA Team members' commitment to this project will help ATEEC improve its instructional materials and services.
The purpose of the Open House was to introduce the Quality Assurance Team members to ATEEC, its partners, and the other team members.
The instructors also learned more about ATEEC's goals, projects, products/instructional materials, and services. The Open House was conducted on-line from Monday, November 13 to Friday, November 17.
ATEEC asked the QA Team members to spend approximately 30 to 60 minutes each day (at a time convenient for them) reviewing a couple of areas or "rooms" on the password-protected Web site.
For instance, on the first day of the Open House, the participants entered the "Foyer" to review the instructions for getting started, the agenda, and a PowerPoint presentation that provided an overview of ATEEC and its partners.
Then they went to the "Kitchen" to get acquainted with project staff and the other team members.
Prior to the Open House, the team members
